Empower Your Artistry: Building Skills for Myanmar Artists

Collaborating with Grace Adam from the UK, AMCA organizes Empower Your Artistry: Building Skills for Myanmar Artists training program to build skills for Myanmar contemporary artists. Through two online workshops, it will focus on the following topics:

  • Portfolio making

  • Pitching

  • Proposal writing

  • Sharing information on grants and cultural institutions

The program will be delivered in two stages of training for artists in five regions – Mon State, Kachin State, Karen State, Shan State, and Mandalay Division.

This comprehensive training program for Myanmar contemporary artists will cover a wide range of essential topics to enhance their skills and professional development. Participants will delve into the art of creating impactful portfolios, with practical examples and a useful checklist. They will also gain insights into effective proposal writing, crafting compelling CVs, optimizing websites and social media presence, and articulating a clear artist statement. In addition to this, the program will provide valuable resources, including exhibition proposal and exhibition preparation checklists, a curated list of relevant artists across disciplines for reference as well as guidance on maintaining a meticulous record of their artistic journey.

  • Stage 1: Training for Trainers – this stage will be facilitated by the UK consultant and conducted online. It is dedicated to mid-career artists or practitioners representing the five regions.

    • 4 Nov 2023: Workshop Day 1 (via Zoom)

    • 5 - 9 Nov 2023: Participants to send back their Toolkit Implementation Scenario for verbal and written feedback

    • 11 Nov 2023: Workshop Day 2 (via Zoom)

Stage 2: Peer-to-Peer – this is an in-person training for artists who need to build up such skills from the five regions. It will be facilitated by mid-career artists who attended the Stage 1 TOT.

    • 20 - 25 Nov 2023: Peer-to-Peer workshops (Any 2 dates between these days)
