Travel Grants for Artists

The Travel Grants program is based on a set of common objectives, jointly developed by the hub partners: Mekong Cultural Hub, Association for Myanmar Contemporary Arts (Myanmar), Heritage Space (Vietnam), and Trees Music & Art (Taiwan). The priority is to support mobility for practitioners within the Mekong region and Taiwan. It is also part of the realization stepping toward the vision of the Art & Society Hubs Network – Asia that arts and culture have strategic importance in developing Asia’s future. Each Hub Partner’s program is designed to support outward travel for people from their respective country.

  • The Travel Grants aims to mobilize the art and cultural practitioners and specialists residing within the Mekong region. The grant supports individuals who would like to involve cultural exchange activity related to researching, participation in workshops, symposiums and exhibitions.

    The grant opens from 01 August 2024 to 31st July 2025. A total of 6 grants will be divided into 3 times per year in 4 months. (First round: 2024 Aug to Nov, Second round: 2024 Dec to 2025 Mar, Third round: 2024 Apr to July). For each round, two grantees will be chosen; however, based on the need of urgency and delivery, more than two grantees may be considered.

    The coverage of the traveling countries is limited within the following countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Taiwan.

    • Myanmar nationality artists, researchers, cultural professionals, and specialists who are based in the Mekong region (Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia) and Taiwan.

    • Must have experience of two years activities in creating, performing, organizing, curating, writing, publishing, researching and cultural exchange as per applicant role in the field of art and culturals.

    • Applicant who is over 18 years old at the time of application.

    • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months before its expiration prior to the traveling dates.

    • There are no restrictions based on race, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or ideas.

  • Download the application form below and submit it directly to contact@amcamyanmar.com with other necessary documents. Indicate “Applying for Travel Grants” in the email subject, to help the screening process easier. Application forms can also be submitted through Viber or Signal of the official AMCA account (+959 764252971).

    • Applications with incomplete forms, missing supporting documents will not be processed.

    • The application must be submitted at least 6 weeks before or the earliest 12 weeks before the traveling date.

    • The screening process will take up to 15 working days and the shortlisted candidate will be informed to take part in the interview process.
